Mental Health Charge Nurse (Band 6)

Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse to join the Healthcare team in HMP Kilmarnock.
What You Will Do
* Provide mental health care to a very vulnerable population, many of whom have suffered significant trauma.
* Responsible for direct line management of a team of Registered Mental Health and Learning Disability Nurses.
* Support the Clinical Team Leader and Clinical Service Manager alongside the Addiction Charge Nurse and Charge Nurse (Adult Nursing).
Knowledge, Training and/or Experience Required
* Registered Mental Health Nurse on the NMC Register, with a degree level education and significant experience related to the role.
* Motivated, enthusiastic with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work flexibly and adapt to the dynamic nature of a prison setting.
* Well‑developed knowledge of mental health problems and appropriate interventions with excellent organisational skills.
* Able to work both as part of a team and autonomously.
* Demonstrated effective leadership skills and confidence in delivering clinical and line‑management supervision.
* Understanding of the needs of the prison population and current recovery‑orientated practices, and ability to partner with the prison service.
Hours and Shift Pattern
* 37 hrs over 4 shifts a week.
* 4‑week rolling roster.
Contract
