WHAT WE NEED
We’re looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team and work closely with our Financial Controller. This is a hands-on role where you’ll get involved in all aspects of day-to-day accounting, help keep things running smoothly at month-end, and play an important part in making sure our finances are accurate and well managed.
* Supervision of Accounts Assistant with processing of invoices, employee expenses and reconciling petty cash and credit cards
* Preparation, processing and submission of monthly payroll
* Overseeing the purchase ledger through to monthly closure
* Assisting the Financial Controller with the preparation and production of timely and accurate monthly management accounts, running monthly profit/loss reports, variance analysis and other various month end reports
* Completion of bank and balance sheet reconciliation
* Manage all transactions associated with the Aberdeen Harbour Board Retirement Benefits Scheme Pension
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
* Relevant experience of working in a similar accountancy role
* Qualified/part qualified and working towards accounting qualifications (ACCA, ICAS, ACA or CIMA or equivalent)
* Knowledge of RTI/PAYE/NIC and pensions regulations
* Knowledge and experience of accounts practices and procedures
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a discrete and confidential approach.
* Strong planning and organisational skills and able to work to deadlines.
* High level of accuracy, numeracy and attention to detail
* Ability to take initiative and a practical approach to problem solving
* Positive and flexible approach to work.
* Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and relevant accounting software
* Good customer service attitude
