An Opportunity to Apply Your Intelligence Where It Matters Our client, a global leader in advanced manufacturing and aerospace systems, is looking for a Procurement Buyer to join their high-performance supply chain team in Yeovil.
This is a role for someone who thinks strategically, operates with precision, and understands that procurement is more than just ordering parts — it’s about ensuring operational flow, maintaining technical integrity, and supporting large-scale engineering programmes.
Why This Role Stands Out
You'll be working within a highly regulated, engineering-driven environment where procurement is essential to mission success.
The client offers a setting where your thinking and input will shape real outcomes, not get lost in red tape.
The team is intelligent, focused, and collaborative — ideal for someone who enjoys solving operational puzzles and engaging with cross-functional stakeholders.
You’ll be trusted with ownership of the procurement process, interacting directly with suppliers and internal teams to keep production running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Respond to MRP requirements by sourcing and securing materials aligned with production timelines and inventory strategies.
Manage the full lifecycle of purchase orders — from creation through to closure — ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Conduct supplier forecasting and performance reviews, taking a proactive approach to risk management.
Resolve invoice discrepancies, customs delays, and quality issues, coordinating with engineering and quality teams when necessary.
Lead conversations with suppliers to drive accountability and delivery performance.
Continuously identify opportunities to streamline the procurement process and strengthen supplier relationships.
Ideal Candidate Profile The client is looking for someone who:
Has experience in a procurement or buying role, preferably in a technical or manufacturing environment.
Is familiar with SAP or similar ERP platforms and confident navigating complex systems.
Demonstrates strong analytical capability, with advanced Excel skills and a data-first mindset.
Communicates clearly and effectively, internally and externally, and negotiates based on insight, not instinct.
Is highly organised, autonomous, and thrives in environments where priorities shift and problems need fast, intelligent solutions.
Understands and respects the importance of compliance, regulation, and process discipline in a safety-critical industry.
What the Client Offers
A challenging, engaging role in a world-class manufacturing environment.
Exposure to high-impact programmes within aerospace and defence.
A team culture that values intelligence, collaboration, and results.
Full training provided, including systems, process, and safety protocols.
Additional Requirements
Candidates must be eligible for BPSS clearance, including DBS check and drug screening.
Must have the legal right to work in the UK.
This role is subject to Export Control regulations.
Willingness to travel occasionally to supplier sites.
Interested? This role offers a genuine opportunity for a capable, curious professional to apply their skills in a meaningful way. If you're looking for complexity, responsibility, and a work environment that respects intelligence and initiative, we’d love to hear from you
