The role...
We are recruiting for a Senior Production Technician (Stage) at His Majesty's Theatre to facilitate the smooth and safe running of The Phantom of the Opera.
In this role, you will support the Head of Stage Engineering in delivering rehearsals and performances of The Phantom of the Opera, as well as maintaining the show and the theatre's technical infrastructure.
You will be responsible for carrying out stage plots and supervising the stage crew.
Alongside the team, you will contribute to creating a high-performance culture and achieving the brand's vision: to stage the extraordinary.
What you’ll be doing…
* Assist the Head of Department (HoD) with maintenance of set pieces.
* Maintain flying pieces and the counterweight system under the guidance of the HoD.
* Operate the fly floor during shows.
* Maintain high standards within the stage crew.
* Motivate the stage team to achieve their potential.
* Undertake work assigned by department heads.
* Allocate show plots to the stage team.
* Lead weekly maintenance sessions for the stage crew.
* Participate in technical rehearsals as required.
* Work closely with visiting companies and their Stage Management to ensure smooth and safe show operations.
* Collaborate with the team to maintain a safe and professional work environment for performers, technicians, and audiences.
* Perform problem-solving during live performances.
* Manual handling skills are necessary; training will be provided.

* Experience in technical theatre, preferably from a West End or major touring venue, is desirable but not essential.
* Experience working on a West End show or in a production environment.
* An understanding of theatre health and safety is desirable.
* Willingness to work overtime as required.
* Available to work evenings, weekends, and Sundays.
Salary: £17.23/hour + overtime as required, with increases in line with SOLT/BECTU agreements.
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week over 6 days.
