Technical Author – Slaughterhouses and Animal By‑Products – UKBAT – 32429
Environment Agency is looking for a Technical Author to draft Best Available Techniques (BAT) conclusions for large slaughterhouse and animal by‑products installations in the UK.
Responsibilities
* Draft BAT conclusions, liaise with technical working groups, and prepare final documents for publication as new, UK‑wide environmental standards.
* Conduct technical analysis of complex industrial data and assess the implications of BAT conclusions in permits and industry.
* Work with cross‑functional stakeholders, maintain project management schedules and drive the completion of deliverables.
Qualifications
* Minimum 5 years experience in environmental regulation, preferably in the slaughterhouse and animal by‑products industry.
* Strong knowledge of UK and EU industrial environmental legislation (IED, Environmental Permitting Regulations).
* Proficiency with data collection, technical analysis and the preparation of concise technical documents.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build consensus across diverse teams.
* Demonstrated project management skills and a drive to meet targets.
