Manager (Trading)

Hours: 30-37.5 hours per week (0.8-1.0 FTE)
Days: Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £35,110 - £37,280 per annum, pro rata based on full-time hours of 37.5 per week. Monthly salary based on 37.50 hours at £36,200 (mid-range) is £3,016.67 before deductions.
Summary / Overview of role:
The Trading Manager is responsible for the trading arm of Trent Vineyard. This primarily means oversight and development of Trent Conferencing, which provides external room hire for conferences. It also covers Whitebird, our onsite coffee shop, plus responsibility for managing our reception team and internal room bookings team. In addition to managing and motivating a sizeable staff team, the Trading Manager must focus on the strategic development of all these areas to deliver on the long-term overall aims and interests of the trading team. The Trading Manager will also be committed, and will ensure their team are committed, to serving the vision and values of Trent Vineyard and, working with the Director of Operations, ensure that the trading arm remains well integrated into the overall staff team.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & marketing and business development
* Oversee the development and implementation of the business and marketing strategy for Trent Vineyard Conferencing and Café.
* Proactively market the trading arm of the business to seek and secure new business having overall responsibility for website, social media platforms, copyright and content and corporate communications.
* Foster positive and professional relationships with both existing and new customers, with a focus on customer retention and development.
* Take responsibility for development of new lines of business and/or customer offerings to optimise revenue and profit margin for the organisation.
Leading and managing the team
* Effectively, manage, motivate, train and encourage all direct line reports, leading and inspiring the team with Christian values and providing pastoral support where required.
* Delegate and empower the Trading Senior Team to run their areas well. This includes staff management and development, budget management, social media and website presence and general development of their areas, as well as working together to meet the need and resolve challenges.
* Support the Trading Team to identify, recruit, train and nurture staff (salaried and sessional) and volunteers to ensure they perform their individual roles to a high standard.
Business delivery
* Ensure all areas of Trading are delivering efficiently and effectively on agreed objectives and goals
* Work with the Trading Senior Team to ensure customer care is delivered to an exceptional level of service at all times, ensuring complaints are dealt with in line with the complaint's procedure.
* Develop strong supplier relationships to secure the best service, quality and price.
* Working alongside the compliance and Trading management teams, to ensure that all risk assessments, policies, documents and reports are maintained and up to date.
* Adhere to and ensure your staff team are aware of Trent Vineyard's policies and procedures.
* Ensure that the business is sustainable and profitable within the context of Trent Vineyard and within the budgets set annually.
* Assist with setting and providing timely reports for budgeting, forecasting and financial performance and other key metrics of the areas.
Wider team integration
* Develop and maintain positive working relationships across the Church and within the various ministry areas, with an emphasis on serving these areas.
* Be an active member of groups as set by the Senior Leadership Team for mutual development, being in an advisory group or to help with managing set projects.
* Attend and serve at various meetings and events throughout the year as expected of an active member of the Trent Vineyard Leadership Team.
* Be an ambassador for Trent Vineyard and Trent Vineyard Trading.

* Have experience of working in a similar environment or can demonstrate transferable skills.
* Have prior experience of financial management of areas under their own oversight.
* Have experience of managing and building a successful team.
Qualifications:
* Computer literate in Microsoft Applications, internet, databases

* Be committed to Trent Vineyard and the Vineyard Churches movement by demonstrating knowledge of the vision, values, beliefs and ethos of Trent Vineyard
* Attend Trent Vineyard as an active member of church (desirable)
* A personal walk with Jesus underpinning a lifestyle of integrity to enable you to understand and model biblical values of leadership and management
* Be a practicing Christian*
