Overview
Senior Social Worker - Single Point Of Advice role at East Sussex County Council. Senior Social Worker in the SPOA Team based in Eastbourne, focused on fast-paced assessment for referrals into Children’s Services and CAMHS. The team is multi-disciplinary and supports decision-making on case handling with opportunities to collaborate with mental health colleagues.
Responsibilities
* Oversee and screen referrals within 24 hours to determine the appropriate service pathway (Universal, Early Help, Safeguarding, or MASH action).
* Work within a dynamic SPOA team to identify cases requiring further consideration by MASH or Early Help-based support.
* Provide supervision and decision-making, with required Practice Educator 1 and 2 qualifications.
* Contribute to risk analysis and make decisions about service level and delivery based on evidence-based practice.
* Engage with children, young people, and families to establish strong relationships and effective communication.
Qualifications and Skills
* Strong communication skills and ability to rapidly connect with vulnerable families.
* Risk analysis skills to determine the most appropriate support level.
* Firm grounding in evidence-based practice and current theories/research.
* Ability to supervise and make decisions (Practice Educator 1 and 2).
Working Hours and Benefits
SPOA operates from 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 4.30pm on Friday, with an agreement to work one day a week from home and no out-of-hours working.
