Job Title O&M Engineer (Structures)

Location Glasgow, Lowestoft, London

Salary from £48,400, up to 10% bonus and health cover

Belonging to the Operations Engineering Team and reporting to Lead Structural & Mechanical Engineer, the O+M (structural) Engineer will be responsible for defining and implementing the strategy to manage offshore structural assets for multi-million offshore O&M campaigns. This includes management of contractors and associated interfaces, ensuring quality, best practices and excellent H&SE performance are applied.

The Operations Engineering structural team is required to provide technical advice and expertise at all stages of the project lifecycle e.g supports the contract strategy by determining what needs to be procured and provides technical assessment to the O&M package/Site Managers ensuring that delivery is to agreed design and quality standards.

You will be working as part of a global business and therefore also support with activities in many countries across Europe and the rest of the world. The focus however will be on developing and supporting the UK Offshore windfarm sites and developing the asset management system related to offshore structural systems.

What you’ll be doing

· Lead in the technical due diligence of new offshore windfarm structural systems to ensure design, installation and operations capture O&M best practice

· Manage efficiently the maintenance contracts which the individual will be responsible for, striving to reduce the maintenance costs and contributing to maximize business EBITDA

· Define the necessities, improvements and maintenance strategy of Offshore structural assets to guarantee the highest asset availability, the compliance with the regulatory requirements and the best service quality following the best industry practices and international standards

· Identify the business technical risks related to the asset condition and propose the necessary actions/plans to mitigate those risks as much as reasonably possible

· Assess any technical issue related to the structural assets, carrying out a Root Cause Analysis and proposing/implementing the necessary action to avoid any re-occurrence

· Extend any lesson learnt and the identified best practices with the other Offshore hubs

· Prepare method statements and implement the required corrective and preventive maintenance activities to maintain/recover the assets availability/reliability either within ScottishPower or through Contractors

· Daily coordination and management of related maintenance activities with local Iberdrola technical site teams to guarantee the right execution timescales and works quality as long as the compliance of the applicable H&S rules

· Define, alongside new Offshore project teams and the Structural & Mechanical Lead, the best technical solutions for new Offshore projects under development and construction to guarantee the best performance and maintainability condition after the Commercial Operation date starts

· Prepare Scope of Works and Suppliers Technical Evaluations, playing an active role during the procurement processes to make sure that the most technically qualified providers are selected

· Interact with the Global Technical Services, Offshore site teams, Fabricators / Manufacturers, Grid Operators, certification and regulatory bodies as long as required

What you’ll bring

To be successful in a role you will need to demonstrate as minimum:

· Bachelors degree in civil or structural engineering

· Significant experience in either Offshore Wind or Oil & Gas

· Sound knowledge in the area of structural integrity, inspection and maintenance activities of offshore structural systems (WTG and OSS) and who can act as the main interface between management team and the site teams to provide expert support

· Experience of contracting, engineering support, maintenance and defining scope of works

· Ability to scrutinise complex engineering problems, carry out root-cause analysis, propose engineering solutions

· Self-motivated with a flexible approach to work, independent and autonomous individual, able to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing in working environment and demonstrate a positive approach to change

· IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT based project management software. Power BI experience would be an advantage.

· Developed report writing, presentation skills and ability to summarise key parameters and drivers impacting the project and business

· Good organisational and operational skills with the ability to link this awareness to technical judgement and decision making

· Good planning and analysis skills with the ability to look forward and anticipate problems and thereafter plan and implement mitigating solutions to negate the effect of such problems

· Competent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to influence and develop key project and business decisions

· Flexible to travel around Europe, travel regularly to attend meetings and work at different project sites in a number of countries though northern Europe particularly Germany, France, Denmark, Spain and England

· Capacity to work within an international and multicultural team
