Overview
The Training Programme Director in IMT (Lancs & South Cumbria) will support the Head of School in the Strategic Development of the School of Medicine. The postholder will be responsible for Stage 1 IMT trainees from Year 1 to Year 3, contribute to the Quality Assurance of medical training for all NHSE ACCS trainees, lead on the development of the School’s Recruitment and Retention Strategy, support the School Operational Programme, and serve as a member of the School Board.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Head of School in strategic development of the School of Medicine.
* Oversee Stage 1 IMT trainees from Year 1 to Year 3.
* Contribute to quality assurance for all NHSE ACCS trainees rotating through medical posts.
* Lead development of the School’s Recruitment and Retention Strategy.
* Support the School Operational Programme.
* Act as a member of the School Board.
* Improve learner supervision, assessment, and experience; engage faculty and ensure effective educational outcomes.
* Drive whole‑workforce transformation and develop multi‑professional links.
Qualifications
• Experienced NHS Consultant with a thorough understanding of IMT training across the region. • Strong leadership and communication skills. • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi‑professional team.
Employment Details
This role is a formal educator position ending on 31st March 2027, with potential extensions that are not guaranteed. The successful applicant may be subject to an Inter Authority Transfer (IAT) via the Electronic Staff Record (ESR) if they currently work within the NHS. Staff recruited from outside the NHS will typically be appointed at the bottom of the pay band. For contractual office‑base staff, at least 40% of working time should be spent in our offices.
