Teaching Assistant Required – Reception Class, Rawtenstall
We are currently supporting a primary school in Rawtenstall that is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant. This role involves providing one-to-one support for a non-verbal child with additional needs. The ideal candidate will be patient, calm, and confident in managing challenging behaviour and providing personal care.
About the Role:
You will be working closely with a Reception child who requires consistent one-to-one support. Your responsibilities will include:
* Providing one-to-one assistance during lessons and playtime
* Supporting the use of communication strategies (e.g. visual aids, Makaton, PECS)
* Assisting with personal care, including toileting
* Helping the child with emotional regulation and behaviour management
* Collaborating with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals
Who we're looking for:
* Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
* At least 6 months of experience in a similar role within a school setting
* Confidence in working with children with SEND and communication needs
* A calm and positive attitude when supporting children with challenging behaviour
* A genuine passion for helping children thrive in the early years
Bonus if you have:
o Experience with the EYFS curriculum
o Knowledge of non-verbal communication tools
o A current enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply)
