Support Worker – Dementia Day Centre

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:30am – 4:15pm
Salary: £13.68
We are looking for a compassionate, enthusiastic, and dedicated Support Worker to join our friendly team at our Dementia Day Centre. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of people living with dementia by providing high‑quality care, support, and meaningful engagement throughout their day.
About the Role
As a Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting individuals living with dementia to maintain their independence, dignity, and wellbeing. You will provide person‑centred care while creating a safe, stimulating, and enjoyable environment for our service users.
This role involves supporting clients with personal care, daily living activities, and encouraging participation in a variety of meaningful activities. We are looking for someone who enjoys being hands‑on, engaging with service users, and actively taking part in activities that promote wellbeing, social interaction, and enjoyment.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide high‑quality, person‑centred support to individuals living with dementia.
* Assist with personal care while maintaining dignity, respect, and independence.
* Support clients during meal and refreshment times where required.
* Plan, encourage, and participate in activities such as arts and crafts, music, reminiscence sessions, games, exercise groups, and community outings.
* Monitor and report any changes in clients’ wellbeing or behaviour.
* Build positive and trusting relationships with service users, families, and colleagues.
* Maintain accurate records and follow safeguarding and health and safety procedures.
* Help create a warm, welcoming, and stimulating day centre environment.
Essential Requirements
* Previous experience supporting individuals living with dementia.
* Good understanding of dementia and person‑centred care.
* Compassionate, patient, and caring approach.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Willingness to provide personal care and practical support.
* Positive attitude and genuine passion for supporting vulnerable adults.
* Reliable, proactive, and able to engage service users in meaningful activities.
