We are seeking a talented insurance lawyer to join the Property Risks & Coverage Team. The role is based in Bolton, with flexible working arrangements encouraged for the right candidate. The Recoveries sub-specialist team operates across national offices, primarily from Bolton and Bristol, and collaborates across locations, so geographic location is flexible.
This is a Claimant role. The successful candidate will handle a caseload of Household and Commercial Property recovery files, covering a range of perils for well-known insurers, typically valued up to £25K.
Key Responsibilities
* Initial review/report – assessing funding, prospects of successful recovery, and claim triage
* Reviewing evidence
* Conducting investigations and establishing causes of action
* Instructing counsel and experts
* Legal research
* Drafting documents including letters of claim, claim forms, and particulars to commence proceedings
* Attending conferences and trials with counsel
* Handling routine correspondence
* Liaising with clients and insurers
* Engaging in settlement negotiations, including drafting Part 36 offers
* Preparing pre-action and interim applications
* Preparing trial documents
* Assisting with ADR processes, including mediation
* Court appointments
* Conducting advocacy by telephone and in person
* Ensuring compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations
Working Hours
35 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm, with 1 unpaid hour for lunch. The primary location is Bolton, Parklands Office, with attendance required 2 days a week.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
* Experience in a Defendant or Claimant litigation firm
* Ability to prioritize workload and manage competing demands
* Attention to detail
* Experience with case management systems
Soft Skills
* Strong interpersonal skills to handle complex litigation and liaise with senior claims handlers
