Our client is looking for a Quality Engineer to work for a local company based in Corby.
Hours are Monday to Thursday 08:00‑16:30 and Friday 08:00‑13:30.
Reporting to the General Manager.
Responsibilities
- Implementation of the Quality Management System in accordance with the AS 9100 standard.
- Provide a resource to all departments by acting as a reference point on all things quality, interpreting quality systems and guiding managers to maintain contractual commitments.
- Guide managers through documentary requirements for their records and procedures, customers’ expectations, and external auditor requirements.
- Engage with Production & Technical Departments at “shop floor” level, spending roughly 50% of time interacting with managers and staff.
- Have practical appreciation of departmental processes and requirements, and make balanced judgements against the quality standards.
- Collate evidence from processes (often by audits) and recommend: a) changes to records to facilitate analysis; b) removal of records that do not generate useful data; c) creation of new records when required by customers.
- Continuously review company activities to assist department managers in compliance with QMS and AS 9100 (financial, sales, commercial, technical, production).
- Interpret the QMS & AS 9100 to enable managers to develop best practice and meet customer requirements.
- Review company documentation to ensure conformity with AS 9100 and customer contractual requirements.
- Ensure a system for maintaining records that are legible and easily retrievable (work performed, certificates, inspection records, and all other quality records).
- Monitor QMS operation via the internal audit process: verify process stability; complete required reports (PEAR, AR, NCR, OER, CAR); review audits with managers and close actions.
- Analyse and manage the non‑conformance database for customer complaints, returns, yield deviations, process parameters, and supplier quality; provide input on data collection, corrective actions, and improvement.
- Support root cause analysis driven by internal audits or customer requirements.
- Monitor and review training records; assist managers in ensuring employees follow correct procedures, methods, and practices.
- Provide statistical data analysis for process control as required.
- Serve as an advisor for Technical & Production Managers on customer quality issues.
Qualifications
- Formal HNC/HND or similar qualification or graduate degree.
- Experience as an AS 9100 / ISO 9001 or automotive standards auditor.
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
- Customer‑facing experience and strong communication skills.
- IOSH H&S certificate.
