Looking for a committed, caring and flexible Personal Assistant to support a young person in accessing the community. The position is funded through the Direct Payments scheme and will enable the family to manage their support independently.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist the young person with daily activities such as shopping, cinema, beach walks, music festivals, gardening, horse riding, make‑up, and trips to Aberystwyth Arts Centre.
* Encourage independence and facilitate social interaction within the community.
* Support the young person during horse riding sessions, swimming, walking and other interests.
* Ensure the safety of the young person at all times during working periods.
* Maintain confidentiality and respect privacy.
* Attend mandatory training as required and comply with health and safety procedures.
Key Qualifications:
* Full, clean driving licence and own transport. Must have business use on insurance to use vehicle during working hours.
* Local knowledge of the Llandysul area and available community activities.
* Reliability, good time‑keeping, and ability to use own initiative.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Experience with developmental delay or working with young people with learning difficulties.
* Must be eligible to work in the UK and undergo an enhanced DBS check (no cost to candidate).
* Two satisfactory references may be requested.
Employment Details:
* Hours: 12 hours per week during school holidays (Monday to Sunday) and 6 hours per week on Saturdays/Sundays during term time.
* Pay: £14.00 per hour plus mileage and expenses where applicable.
* Probationary period of up to 6 months, with a 1‑month trial period.
* Employment is directly with the individual employer, not with Ceredigion County Council.
* Statutory entitlements such as annual leave and a Personal Assistants Handbook will be provided upon commencement.
