Band 3 – Sexual Health – Permanent – Full time (37.5 hrs per week) – Salary £24,937 – £26,598 per annum. Site: Axess Sexual Health, Liverpool. Closing date 29/12/2025 23:59.
Responsibilities
* Provide and maintain a safe environment for clients and staff, reporting safety issues to the appropriate team and suggesting service improvements.
* Maintain high standards of infection control and client confidentiality according to Trust policies.
* Act as a chaperone respecting cultural and religious beliefs while promoting a positive image of the service.
* Prioritise workload and organise daily work to ensure smooth service running.
* Identify, report and record Child Protection and Vulnerable Adult issues in line with legislation and Trust policy.
* Prepare equipment and clinical environment, assist at clinical procedures as appropriate.
* Report sickness, absence, and any accident/incident to the Clinical Manager or deputy.
* Work within community clinical settings, undertake pregnancy testing, venepuncture and manage fast‑track clinics using electronic patient records.
* Ensure all samples/specimens are recorded, transported and any discrepancies reported.
* Maintain clinical supplies stock levels, identifying and reporting discrepancies or cost savings.
* Support clinical delivery alongside dedicated sexual health clinical practitioners, providing sexual health advice and education to patients.
Duties – Main Duties of the Job
* Undertake pregnancy testing & venepuncture and other procedures under guidance and supervision of clinical staff.
* Manage fast‑track clinics using electronic patient records, entering and coding episodes safely and efficiently.
* Record and transport samples/specimens in a timely manner, report any discrepancies.
* Maintain stock levels, report discrepancies or cost savings to service manager.
* Ensure a clean and tidy clinical environment, maintain housekeeping throughout.
* Support clinical delivery with sexual health clinical practitioners, provide sexual health advice to support care, emotional well‑being and education of patients.
Person Specification – Qualifications
* Essential: GCSE level or equivalent, NVQ2 (healthcare), Care Certificate or equivalent experience.
* Desirable: Evidence of working at or ability to achieve NVQ3 Level.
Person Specification – Experience
* Essential: Demonstrable experience working at Band 2 within a healthcare setting, previous experience of working with the public and/or young people.
* Desirable: Previous experience of working in other areas of sexual health or related services.
Person Specification – Knowledge and Skills
* Essential: General understanding of sexual health, good interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), ability to communicate with vulnerable people, relate to needs of young people, work flexibly, self‑motivate, expand roles (venepuncture, sample collection, point‑of‑care testing, microscopy). Knowledge of Child Protection / Vulnerable Adult issues.
* Desirable: Understanding of confidentiality.
Other – Essential Criteria
* To travel between sites (internal & external).
* IT skills (e‑mail, Outlook, Microsoft Word).
* Work flexibly to suit service needs and specific role.
