Job Description: Senior AWS Architect (14 Years Experience) Role: Senior AWS Architect Experience: 14 Years (with deep AWS architectural leadership) Focus: On prem to AWS migration Containerization Consolidation Lift & Shift AWS Native Architecture Role Overview We are seeking a highly accomplished Senior AWS Architect with 14 years of enterprise technology experience and proven expertise in leading complex on prem to AWS migration programs. The ideal candidate will architect scalable, secure, cost-optimized target environments on AWS, guide containerization & modernization initiatives, and drive migration strategies such as rehost (lift & shift), replatforming, refactoring, and application consolidation. This role requires a blend of deep hands-on AWS knowledge, architectural leadership, stakeholder management, and the ability to articulate business value through AWS-native capabilities. Key Responsibilities 1. AWS Target Architecture & Design Define end to end target-state architecture across compute, networking, security, storage, data, and application layers. Architect AWS landing zones, multi-account structures, and IAM strategy using AWS best practices. Recommend and architect AWS-native solutions (e.g., EKS, ECS, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, API Gateway, CloudWatch, S3, CloudFront, KMS, Control Tower ). Ensure architectures are scalable, cost-efficient, secure, and operationally resilient. 2. On-Prem to AWS Migration Leadership Lead the architectural vision and execution strategy for migrating large application landscapes. Define migration patterns like lift & shift, lift & optimize, containerization, application consolidation, and modernization. Perform application discovery, dependency mapping, and wave planning. Provide architectural governance and oversight through design, build, test, migration, and cutover. 3. Containerization & Modernization Strategy Define and lead containerization journeys using Amazon ECS, EKS, Fargate, and container-focused CI/CD pipelines. Guide teams in refactoring monolithic applications into containerized or microservices architectures. Work closely with DevOps and platform teams to design secure, automated, and scalable container platforms on AWS. 4. Application & Infrastructure Consolidation Identify opportunities for consolidation of on-prem workloads while designing simplified, optimized AWS-based architectures. Rationalize applications, databases, and infrastructure footprints to reduce complexity and improve cost efficiency. Standardize patterns, templates, reusable modules, and architectural blueprints. 5. AWS Native Services Enablement & Value Realization Evaluate and recommend the right AWS-native services based on performance, cost, security, and business outcomes. Present detailed business cases showcasing benefits such as: Cost optimization (right-sizing, savings plans, S3 tiers, serverless models) Operational efficiency (automation, managed services, observability) Security enhancements (IAM, KMS, zero-trust designs) Scalability & reliability (autoscaling, global reach, high availability) Advise clients on cloud operating model transformation and best practices. 6. Technical Governance, Quality & Leadership Serve as the technical authority for all migration-related decisions. Conduct architecture reviews, ensure adherence to standards, and enforce security/compliance mandates. Mentor engineering and migration teams, enabling high-quality delivery aligned with enterprise objectives. Collaborate with program management on risk, cost, and timeline governance. Required Skills & Experience Technical Expertise 14 years of enterprise IT experience with extensive AWS cloud architecture expertise. Strong hands-on skills across AWS compute, networking (VPC, TGW), IAM, storage, container platforms, and automation tools. Deep experience with: EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS/Fargate, RDS/Aurora/DynamoDB, S3, CloudFront, Route53 Designing secure IAM/KMS strategies Architecting multi-account environments using Control Tower / Organizations Expert-level understanding of migration tooling (CloudEndure, DMS, SMS) and modernization frameworks. Migration & Modernization Expertise Proven experience leading end-to-end large-scale migration programs. Strong understanding of application architectures (monolith, microservices, distributed systems). Skilled in designing containerization & orchestration strategies (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS). Leadership & Communication Ability to influence senior stakeholders and articulate architecture decisions. Strong problem-solving, documentation, and presentation skills. Experience collaborating across security, compliance, DevOps, infrastructure, and application teams. Preferred Qualifications AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional AWS DevOps Engineer / Security Specialty certifications Experience with FinOps, cost modeling, and optimization frameworks Experience in multi-cloud environments (nice-to-have) Success Measures High-quality, on-time migration delivery with zero major defects. Demonstrated use of AWS-native services delivering measurable cost, performance, and operational benefits. Stable, secure, scalable AWS target environment aligned to best practices. Strong stakeholder satisfaction and clear architectural governance.
