Interventional Consultant Radiologist
Job Plan Commitment: 10 PA.
We are looking for an Interventional Consultant Radiologist to join the Radiology team at GWH. The post is full‑time, but part‑time applicants will also be considered.
The Radiology department is well‑equipped with two 128‑slice Siemens CT scanners, two 1.5T Siemens MRI scanners, digital screening rooms, updated ultrasound machines, a recently installed SPECT‑CT, a new dual‑source cardiac CT scanner, and CT and MRI vans/static scanners for the Community Diagnostic Centre in West Swindon.
The Breast Centre provides screening for nearly 100,000 women over a three‑year cycle and a symptomatic service for Swindon and Wiltshire, equipped with Hologic mammography units with tomosynthesis and a forthcoming contrast‑enhanced mammography service. Localisations are usually performed with Magseed.
Post holder must hold a CCST or CCT and should be trained in all aspects of the speciality.
Responsibilities:
* Multidisciplinary team work with other colleagues, engaging in MDT discussions.
* Development of sub‑specialty interests aligned with Directorate needs and the Trust’s strategic direction.
* Teach, examine, and provide accreditation duties, contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education.
* Support the Lead Clinician in policy and strategy development as a senior member of the Directorate Management Team.
* Contribute to the leadership and development of the specialty under the direction of the Lead Clinician and Associate Medical Director and in line with the Trust’s business plans.
* Ensure effective communication and involvement of staff across the Directorate, supporting the General Manager to achieve objectives.
* Collaborate with colleagues in other Directorates within the Trust.
* Assist in cost‑effective utilisation of resources (pay and non‑pay items such as equipment and drugs) within budgets.
* Work within the Trust’s framework for Clinical Governance and Risk, developing clinical policies and adhering to standing orders, financial instructions, and procedures.
* Serve as a key member of the Directorate team, accountable for leading changes to services that improve patient experience.
On‑Call Duties:
* Consultants are on‑call from 8 am to 8 pm Monday to Friday, and for 4 hours Saturday and Sunday. Additional 4 hours on Saturday and Sunday are supported by an outsourced reporting company.
* Home‑working computers can be set up for remote work.
