About the Role
Our esteemed client in Wolverhampton is seeking a dedicated and experienced Financial Accountant to join their finance team. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical accounting expertise and familiarity with financial reporting and compliance standards. As Financial Accountant, you will play a critical role in managing and preparing the company's financial data, ensuring accuracy, and supporting decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting: Preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports in compliance with UK GAAP or IFRS standards.
Budget Management: Support the budgeting and forecasting processes by analyzing financial data and identifying variances.
Audit Support: Actively coordinate with auditors during internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to financial regulations, company policies, and tax obligations.
Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Maintain and reconcile the company's balance sheets effectively.
Accounts Support: Manage key areas such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger postings.
Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in current processes and recommend improvements to optimize workflows.
Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, to share financial insights.
Requirements
Education: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified accountant (or finalist candidates may be considered).
Experience: Minimum 3+ years of experience in a financial accounting or related role, ideally within the manufacturing, service, or SME sectors.
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with UK GAAP/IFRS standards and Microsoft Excel (advanced functions).
Software Skills: Experience with ERP systems such as SAP.
Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze complex financial information and provide actionable insights.
Attention to Detail: High standards for accuracy and a proactive approach to resolving discrepancies.
Communication Skills: Solid written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial data effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
Experience managing corporation tax filings and VAT returns.
Knowledge of Wolverhampton-based industries or similar.
Previous experience in a fast-paced environment, meeting tight deadlines.
