Teaching Assistant Location: West Drayton Start Date: Start As Soon As Possible Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in West Drayton is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join their team. The role primarily involves providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with additional needs, while also offering flexible support across KS1 and KS2 classes when the pupil is not in school. About the School The school is a friendly and well-organised mainstream primary school with a strong focus on inclusive practice. Staff work collaboratively to ensure pupils with additional needs are supported within the classroom through structured routines, differentiated learning, and consistent adult support. The Role As a Teaching Assistant, you will: • Provide consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN within a mainstream classroom • Support learning in line with the pupil’s EHCP or individual support plan • Implement strategies to support communication, engagement, and behaviour • Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs • Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour • Provide classroom support across KS1–KS2 when the pupil is absent • Work closely with class teachers, the SENCo, and external professionals • Support social interaction and emotional regulation • Help maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment About You • Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a school setting in the UK • Minimum Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning, Early Years, or equivalent (e.g., CACHE, NVQ, or Diploma) • Confident working on a 1:1 basis and adaptable to support different classes • Experience using communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or other AAC tools • Patient, calm, and resilient with a nurturing approach • Strong communication and teamwork skills • Reliable, flexible, and committed to inclusive education • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply via Uniform Education) What’s on Offer • Supportive leadership and inclusive school ethos • Ongoing SEN-focused training and CPD opportunities • Potential for long-term or permanent placement • A rewarding role where you can make a real difference every day
