Whether you aim to progress into management and leadership or become a specialist as an Advanced Substance Use Practitioner, Turning Point will support and encourage your career development.
Role Responsibility
Recovery workers act as ‘key workers’ supporting a caseload of service users to set treatment goals and develop plans to achieve them. Responsibilities include maintaining regular contact, offering advice, psycho-social interventions, assessments, risk management, and working closely with clinical staff and partner agencies. Effective communication, task management, and commitment to Turning Point values are essential. Candidates with lived experience of substance use, mental health, or homelessness, or those with experience in health and social care, are encouraged to apply; if your values align, there is a role for everyone.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will understand substance and alcohol use challenges and opportunities for recovery. Transferable skills from mental health, housing, or social care backgrounds are also valued. Flexibility, ability to work dynamically with individuals and groups, and knowledge of relapse and barriers to recovery are vital. Excellent communication skills and shared organizational values are important. Our Trainee Recovery Worker program offers entry-level opportunities for those without extensive experience, supporting career progression within the organization.
We value creativity and initiative, and all roles involve identifying opportunities to improve service quality and user experience. Extensive training and a supportive learning culture will help you stay updated and contribute to service improvements.
