Overview
The Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme team has an exciting opportunity for an individual with lived experience of mental health issues or as a carer for someone with mental health support needs. The role is to become chair of the Service user and Carer advisory committee. The post requires commitment of one day per week, which can be taken as a full day or split into two half days. Core team day is Tuesday, so some work will occur on that day with flexibility for the other half day. The postholder will be required to attend the University campus in Guildford. Hybrid working is possible across the rest of the week.
Responsibilities and duties
* Lead the Service user and Carer advisory committee and work in close partnership with the academic team to support delivery of the academic and research components of the programme.
* Help facilitate the annual recruitment of trainee clinical psychologists.
* Engage with local Public and Patient Involvement groups and the Psychological Professions network to support programme delivery.
* Arrange meetings to support trainees with their research development; contribute to communication with a variety of audiences and involvement in teaching as required.
* Work as a member of a team and contribute to inclusion, diversity and equality initiatives within the department.
Qualifications and experience
* We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds. An undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral qualification is advantageous.
* Experience of working in complex organisations and communicating with diverse audiences is helpful.
* Willingness to deliver academic teaching across the lifespan and to utilise diverse theoretical and psychotherapeutic knowledge bases.
* Passion for supporting the development of trainee clinical psychologists to enable them to become confident and culturally attuned practitioners.

The PsychD team is a welcoming, innovative and cohesive group with a wide range of clinical and research interests. The programme sits within the Discipline of Clinical and Health Psychology, in the School of Psychology, University of Surrey. The School has an outstanding reputation for applied psychology training and research, with an active research culture and a commitment to inclusion, diversity and equality; exploring the needs of under-served communities. There are opportunities for ongoing professional development, including eligibility to undertake a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (if not already held).
