In this role, you’ll be working in a team that works collaboratively across Covéa to achieve our motor business plan, through our intermediated partners. This role would be a part of the company’s senior leadership team. This is more than just a job - it’s a chance to grow, develop, and be part of something great.
Core responsibilities
* Develop and implement the Personal Lines motor underwriting strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and effective footprint management.
* Make data-driven underwriting decisions within the defined risk appetite, ensuring all deals meet minimum return requirements and improve portfolio performance.
* Maintain strong governance by ensuring underwriting philosophy and processes are accurately applied and compliant with regulatory and legal standards.
* Monitor market trends and external developments to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in underwriting practices.
* Ensure fair customer outcomes by aligning underwriting approaches with the principles of The Consumer Duty.
* Proactively manage risks, incorporating them into the Departmental Risk Management Programme and taking action to mitigate potential regulatory and business threats.
What are the core qualifications?
* Collaborative communicator with the ability to work cross-functionally across Pricing, Trading, and Claims, while fostering open, respectful dialogue and embracing change.
* Strong leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate others, lead by example, and manage experienced underwriting teams.
* Highly organised and self-motivated, with excellent planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, especially in underwriting contexts.
* Commercially and strategically aware, with significant senior-level experience and a deep understanding of the UK personal lines motor insurance market.
* Expert in motor underwriting, with advanced knowledge of practices, regulatory frameworks, and the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships.
* Professionally qualified, holding a degree or equivalent insurance qualification.
