Constituency Office Assistant to Jon Burrows MLA

An opportunity has arisen for a Personal Assistant and Researcher to support and Jon Burrows MLA.The successful candidate will work closely with Jon Burrows MLA preparing for Assembly and Committee business and liaising with other departments and offices as required. The successful candidate will be capable of researching public policy and related issues, using online and Assembly resources. It is essential that the role holder is able to operate social media platforms and is capable of some content creation as engaging the public about the work in the Assembly is vital.The role holder will be part of a wider team including a constituency manager and constituency assistant, these staff members will be working out of the Ballymena constituency office and can mutually support each other, The role holder will be provided induction training, tour of Parliament Buildings and be given the IT equipment necessary for their job. On occasion the role will require travelling to locations others that Parliament Buildings but mileage rates will apply for the excess mileage.


Responsibilities

* Research & Policy. Conduct research on policy areas, legislation, and constituency issues.
* Prepare briefings, notes and questions for use in the Chamber, Committees, and media.


Skills and Qualifications

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clear, persuasive, and concise material.
* Strong research skills, including the ability to analyse complex information and present it.
* Experience of working with others in a paid role for a least 2 years.
* Previous experience working in researching: this could be academic or professional research.
* Experience of providing administrative support.
* Experience of using Microsoft Office.
