Speech and Language Therapist
Location: Hillingdon Granges (primarily Yiewsley Grange, with occasional support to other sites).
Salary: Up to £53,200 FTE DOE plus £5,000 Welcome Bonus (two payments of £2,500).
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.
Contract: Permanent, term‑time only (flexibility around full‑time contract can be discussed).
Role
You will join our in‑house clinical team and work collaboratively with the education team to deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working, guiding your practice within an education setting and clarifying your roles and responsibilities, while taking into account governing and professional bodies.
You will be given responsibility for holding a Speech and Language therapy caseload, with full support from your designated clinical supervisor and site lead, and will contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
Essential Criteria
* Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy
* HCPC registered
* 1‑2 years experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT working in a similar setting
* Relevant experience engaging with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles
* Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice
* Experience of multi‑disciplinary working in a range of settings
* Experience communicating with families, relatives and carers
* Interest in developing knowledge and skills in different areas of SaLT practice
* Good relationship‑building, analytical, judgmental, oral and written communication, time‑management and organisational skills
* Competency in core areas of SaLT practice and clear understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards
* Knowledge of different SaLT assessment tools, types of intervention and formulation of support plans based on needs profile
* Knowledge of legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management in relation to the client group
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of the multi‑disciplinary team
* Willingness to attend training and work toward further qualifications relevant to the client group
* ASD experience
Desirable
* Understanding of sensory and motor differences and how they affect communication strengths, difficulties and needs profile
* Understanding of the relationship between arousal levels and communication
