Project Manager | Construction & Refurbishment | £50,000 - £60,000 | Permanent | Manchester
Robert Half is partnering with a privately owned UK construction contractor who specialise in refurbishment, restoration, maintenance and repair projects across commercial and public sector buildings. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to join their delivery team.
This is a hands-on role where you'll take ownership of multiple projects ranging from approximately £200k to £1m+, delivering refurbishment and construction schemes from pre-construction through to completion.
The business has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality work in live and occupied environments, including insurance reinstatement, refurbishment of public buildings, and complex repair works across sectors such as education, healthcare, commercial property and local authority estates.
The Role
As Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
You will work closely with the senior leadership team and internal commercial and H&S functions, acting as the key point of contact for clients, subcontractors and site teams.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Managing refurbishment and construction projects from inception to completion
2. Developing and maintaining project programmes and delivery plans
3. Chairing site meetings and liaising with clients and stakeholders
4. Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and site teams
5. Monitoring progress, cost control and reporting performance
6. Supporting variations, change management and commercial processes
7. Ensuring strict compliance with health & safety and quality standards
8. Maintaining strong client relationships throughout delivery
What I'm Looking For
I'm keen to speak with experienced construction professionals who have a background in project delivery, site management or contract management and are confident running their own schemes.
The ideal candidate will have:
9. Experience as a Project Manager, Senior Site Manager or Assistant Contracts Manager
10. Strong knowledge of construction delivery from start to finish
11. Experience managing multiple live projects or fast-paced environments
12. Good commercial awareness and understanding of cost control
13. Strong leadership and subcontractor management experience
14. Excellent communication and client-facing skills
15. Ability to read drawings, specifications and construction programmes
16. Full UK driving licence
Desirable Experience
17. Refurbishment, fit-out or insurance reinstatement projects
18. Live/occupied environment working
19. Education, healthcare or commercial sector experience
20. SMSTS, First Aid or relevant construction qualifications
