Job overview

Integrated Care Clinician (Paramedic)

The post holder will undertake telephone triage assessments of patients in an efficient way. They will advise the most appropriate intervention to meet the needs of the patient using best clinical practice, adhering to Trust Policy, protocols and guidelines. Will work in an autonomous capacity, assessing and advising callers within agreed guidelines.

We are looking for more Triage and Assessment Paramedics to join NHS 111 Wales to meet the challenges of urgent and emergency care across Wales. NHS 111 Wales provides urgent out-of-hours care, 24-hour health information with sign posting and access to urgent dental services.

The role offers an opportunity to deliver excellent patient care in a non-patient facing setting, with emphasis on prudent health for patients. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are welcome to apply.


Main duties of the job

111 Wales is at the forefront of improving urgent and emergency care for Wales, online and over the phone. We employ a wide range of colleagues and work as a multi-disciplinary team alongside GPs, Pharmacists and Mental Health Practitioners. This dynamic role involves using your clinical assessment skills to help a broad spectrum of patients, from minor ailments to complex conditions, in a remote clinical decision-making environment.

As a Band 6 Triage and Assessment Paramedic, you’ll have autonomy to make decisions but will be supported by our team of senior clinicians, practice coaches and multi-disciplinary colleagues. You will contribute to Wales Urgent care needs and engage with thousands of patients weekly.

Qualifications

* NMC Registered Nurse (adult or Child) with relevant frontline, acute or chronic care practice, or HCPC Registered Paramedic with post-registration experience in frontline services.
* Evidence of regular update training and ongoing professional development as required by the regulating body.
* Meets all desirable criteria as per the attached job description/person specification.


Experience

* Strong listening and communication skills; able to work in a team with a collaborative style.
* Ability to work on own initiative and make decisions.
* Sound clinical decision-making capabilities; up-to-date clinical knowledge; computer literate; committed to personal development.
* Ability to speak Welsh.


Aptitude and Abilities

* Committed to ongoing training and mandatory updates.
* Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
* Flexible approach to work, including rotating shifts, nights, and weekends (unsocial hours).
* Understanding of and alignment with Trust values and behaviours.
