What You'll Do
Avalara is looking for a Director of Mid-Market Sales to lead a team of mid-market New Business Sales Executives. You will be responsible for building, and coaching a team of Sales Executives focused on acquiring net-new mid-market customers in the UK market.
You will have experience leading successful mid-market sales teams in a high-growth SaaS business, selling solutions that integrate with ERPs. Knowledge of ERP ecosystems, ideally Oracle, is required.
This role is a hybrid work schedule from London and you will report to our General Manager of International Operations.
What Your Responsibilities Will Be
* Lead a team of mid-market Sales Executives focused on new logo acquisition in the UK.
* Set and drive a strategic sales plan aligned with Avalara’s enterprise revenue goals.
* Coach the team to build deep customer relationships, execute complex sales cycles, and close large, high-value deals.
* Collaborate with pre-sales, marketing, product, and customer success and account management to support enterprise pipeline growth and deal execution.
* Oversee accurate forecasting and pipeline management, ensuring predictability of performance and risk mitigation.
* Promote a customer-centric selling culture focused on solving complex tax compliance challenges.
* Represent Avalara at industry events, partner engagements, and at C-level meetings.
* Attract and retain top sales talent, promoting career progression across your team, creating a bench for future leadership roles.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
* Experience leading and coaching successful new business sales teams, with a strong focus on outbound prospecting and net-new logo acquisition in the mid-market space.
* Experience leading a team that sells third-party solutions that integrate with ERPs.
* Experience with ERP ecosystems, with experience selling into or partnering with Oracle.
* Experience with tax compliance/determination technology is desirable.
* 10+ years of experience in SaaS software sales, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
* Experience in closing complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise deals.
* Experience with performance management.
* Experience presenting to and influencing C-level executives and key stakeholders.
* Experience with strategic planning with hands-on execution capability.
* Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
