This post is suitable for candidates who wish to expand their knowledge and skills in Gynaecological Oncology, aiming to apply for a Consultant Post as a Unit Lead or to prepare for Sub Specialty Training in Gynaecological Oncology. The position offers comprehensive training according to the ATSM curriculum in Gynaecological Oncology. The candidate will work alongside the Gynaecological Oncology Team, supervising inpatient and outpatient clinics.
Research is not scheduled but support is available for those interested in undertaking research projects and presenting at national and international meetings. Extensive surgical training is possible with up to 40 hours of theatre time per week dedicated to the Gynaecological Oncology team. The successful candidate will be encouraged to register with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists for the Gynaecological Oncology ATSM.
Minimum Requirements
* Full GMC registration and license to practice, MBBS or equivalent
* Clinical training in Gynaecologic Oncology
* Evidence of clinical or basic research in Gynaecological Oncology
* Ability to make decisions at post MRCOG level
Desirable Criteria
* MRCOG part 2 or equivalent, Intercalated degree/MD/PhD, or other postgraduate diploma
* Experience in a Gynaecological Oncology accredited centre
* Ability to make clinical decisions in Gynaecological Oncology, with knowledge of decision-making processes and scientific rationale
* Adequate surgical skills for basic gynaecological surgery
* Knowledge of Gynaecological Oncology surgery principles
* Sufficient leadership and organizational skills
* Well organized with good prioritization skills
* Excellent personal and interpersonal skills
* Proficient spoken and written English, with highly developed communication skills
* Experience in teaching undergraduates, trainees, and non-medical staff
* Experience in routine clinical audit
Additional desirable criteria include knowledge of the organization of a tertiary Gynaecological Oncology service, management training and experience, and a commitment to register for ATSM training. Appropriate UK professional registration is required.
