Role Summary
This is a developmental post working within the Urological and Gastrointestinal Physiology Teams and providing specialist Healthcare Science input and services. The role incorporates studying for the Accredited Science Practice qualification via AGIP (Association of GI Physiologists) along with the Basic and Advanced Urodynamics Courses offered by Bristol Urological Institute, together with completion of in-house training and competencies. The post-holder will provide specialist support and input to the urological and gastrointestinal physiology team alongside working towards these qualifications.
Over the course of this 4 year developmental post the successful applicant will become competent to undertake and report on a range of physiological measurement investigations including urine flow rate investigations, Urodynamics investigation, Oesophageal Manometry and Anorectal manometry studies. The successful applicant with work closely with more senior members of the team and suitable levels of supervision and support with be provided at all times during the developmental period.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is keen to further their career within healthcare science, working in a developmental post within the Urological and Gastrointestinal Physiology specialisms, initially commencing at Band 5 level, and over a 4 year period progressing to Band 6 and Band 7 levels. The successful applicant will be someone who is passionate about patient care, has a minimum of one years’ experience of working in GI and Urological Physiology at Band 4 level or above and has specialist knowledge relating to urological/gastrointestinal physiology and disorders at time of appointment to role, (for example as a result of completion of a BTEC Level 4 Diploma in Healthcare Science specialising in Urological and Gastrointestinal physiology modules). The successful applicant must be willing to complete the further training required to acquire the clinical skills necessary for this developmental role. The role will involve working across two sites initially (Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (Wonford) and Ottery St Mary Hospital), and eventually will also incorporate work at North Devon District Hospital.

Pay: The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 5/6 rates, inclusive of a pay award which will be implemented later this year. If you join before the implementation date, the pay award will be backdated to your start date. Until then, remuneration will be based on the 4/5 pay bandings (Pay scales for 4/ | NHS Employers)
