Overview
Kingwood Children is seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Assistant to ensure the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of our settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general maintenance tasks, with a particular emphasis on woodworking and carpentry skills. This role is pivotal in maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for our children, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
* General Maintenance:
* Perform routine inspections and repairs of the facility, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
* Address maintenance requests promptly to minimise disruptions.
* Carpentry and Woodworking:
* Construct, repair, and maintain wooden structures such as shelves, cabinets, and play equipment.
* Design and build custom furniture or fixtures as needed to enhance the learning environment.
* Facility Upkeep:
* Ensure all areas are well-maintained and safe.
* Assist in setting up and dismantling equipment for events or activities.
* Safety Compliance:
* Conduct regular safety checks and risk assessments.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, addressing any hazards promptly.
* Inventory Management:
* Maintain an inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.
* Order replacements or new items as necessary, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
Qualifications and Experience
* Essential:
* Proven experience in general maintenance roles.
* Strong carpentry and woodworking skills.
* Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings.
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Desirable:
* Experience working in educational or childcare settings.
* Familiarity with safeguarding procedures.
* First Aid certification.
