The incumbent will mainly assist in the implementation of a government‑funded environmental education programme focused on promoting the conservation of marine ecosystems. He/She will support the development, delivery, and evaluation of programme activities covering key topics such as marine biodiversity and conservation, plastic pollution, and abandoned, lost, or otherwise discarded fishing gear (ALDFG). In addition, the incumbent will take part in performing programmes organised by the Ocean Park Conservation Foundation, Hong Kong (OPCFHK), ensuring alignment with the Foundation’s ongoing initiatives.
The Project Officer will work closely with senior staff and partners to ensure smooth execution of the programme and contribute to OPCFHK’s mission in marine conservation and education.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in ecology, conservation biology, environmental science, or related disciplines.
* Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver certification (or above), with a minimum of 60 logged dives; at least 20 dives completed within the year prior to commencement of work.
* At least 1 year of relevant work experience in conservation, environmental education, or related fields.
* Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office; GIS and mapping skills are highly preferred.
* Strong interest in local marine biodiversity, with intermediate field identification skills.
* Good interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills; fluent in Cantonese and English, with Putonghua as an advantage.
* Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
* Willingness to conduct outdoor fieldwork.
* Skills in underwater photography and videography will be considered an advantage.
* Flexibility to work on shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
