Although this role spans several disciplines, the business has well-established processes and strong external support, enabling a capable individual to successfully wear multiple hats. A comprehensive 6-month handover will be provided by the current role holder.
The Role:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive QHSE, HR & Business Systems Manager to oversee and develop our core operational support functions. This is a broad, hands-on role covering Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental compliance, HR management, and general office/business systems management. You'll work across all departments to help ensure a safe, efficient, and well-supported workplace.
As part of the Senior Management Team, you'll provide insight and guidance to support strategic decisions and ensure we continue operating as a safe, efficient, and people-focused organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
QHSE Responsibilities:
* Develop, implement, and maintain company QHSE policies and procedures.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality legislation.
* Review and conduct risk assessments, audits, and inspections across office, warehouse, and field environments.
* Manage incident investigations and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
* Ensure relevant training has been completed by all staff.
* Manage the quality management system and conduct annual internal audits
HR:
* Support line managers with recruitment, onboarding, and induction processes.
* Maintain employee records and ensure HR policies and procedures are upheld.
* Provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary matters.
* Promote employee wellbeing and engagement initiatives.
* Support training and development to upskill employees.
Business Systems & Office Management:
* Manage business systems and service contracts including landline and mobile phones, IT infrastructure, and office software.
* Oversee purchasing and stock levels of office sundries and other operational supplies.
* Ensure data protection compliance (GDPR) and support internal data governance practices.
* Maintain and manage office environment, including furniture, fittings, and facilities requirements.
* Act as liaison with external service providers (IT support, alarm system, maintenance, telecoms, etc.).
* Support continuous improvement in administrative processes and systems.
What We're Looking For:
* Proven experience in QHSE and HR roles, with additional experience managing office or business systems.
* NEBOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification essential.
* Working knowledge of ISO 9001
* Understanding of UK employment law and HR practices.
* Strong organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
* A proactive, practical mindset with strong attention to detail.
* Comfortable managing multiple responsibilities across diverse functions.
Desirable:
* Experience in a multi-site or mixed working environment (office, warehouse, remote engineers).
* First Aid or Mental Health First Aid trained.
* Experience with GDPR and general IT systems administration.
