Job Description Summary: Become part of a winning team and help to deliver the Green Energy transition. As the Commissioning Manager (Portfolio), you are responsible for the definition and execution of commissioning activities during ITO and OTR on several small to medium projects and service contracts, acting under the direction and on behalf of the Project Managers / Bid Managers. For a given project, you will define the commissioning strategy, mobilise and lead the commissioning team and manage the execution of the commissioning scope of work. You will ensure that Safety, Quality, Costs and Delivery comply with contractual obligations, company policy and KPIs. Participate in the recruitment, mentoring and training of new / graduate engineers in line with GE development processes and commissioning authorization processes. This role reports to the GSI Construction lead.
Roles & Responsibilities
During Tender (ITO)
* Provides support in the preparation of budget/target forecasts and sequencing of commissioning activities.
* Provides support in the preparation of tender documents related to commissioning activities.
* Actively provides any other required commissioning support to the tendering teams.
During Execution (OTR)
* Prepares upfront commissioning documentation as required.
* Ensures the consistent application of defined commissioning strategies.
* Prepares technical and organizational specifications for commissioning activities.
* Interfaces with Client Reps, Construction Manager (Portfolio), Project Managers, Project Engineers and Design Engineers throughout the project lifecycle.
* Conducts site audits of commissioning files and marked-up as-installed drawings.
* Ensures adequate resources, personnel, tools and equipment are available for successful delivery of the project.
* Attends project and client interface meetings and actively actions any commissioning-related actions.
* Sets goals and objectives for commissioning engineers mobilised to projects.
* Liaises with design office for timely issuance of data/information required for site commissioning.
* Coordinates with Project Commissioning Managers where assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
* Electrical Engineering degree / HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
* Appropriate health and safety experience, training and qualifications in line with international standards for roles of this nature. GWO certification an added advantage.
* Background in high voltage electrical substation commissioning.
Experience
* Significant and demonstrated years of work experience in a HV electrical commissioning environment.
* Previous experience as Commissioning Manager (HV Substation Projects) in the UK would be an added advantage.
* Knowledge and experience working in HVDC project environments.
Other / Travel
* This is an office-based role but will require travel to project sites across the region (approximately 20%).
* Ability to integrate with GE wider team and communicate effectively in English (verbal and written).
* Additional language proficiency in European languages is an added advantage.
* IT proficiency including commissioning platforms and tools.
