We welcome the challenge to work in new ways and have trust in you when getting the job done because we recognise, our business is our people.**Job Description**Our Technical Authoring team provides clear, accurate and user-friendly documentation for complex engineering products across Ultra Maritime’s products, everything from hardware to software. You will work closely with engineers, project managers, and support teams to ensure technical information is communicated effectively to end-users and stakeholders.You will be expected to be flexible and work across a number of different projects. This role will involve engagement with projects, and requires someone who is not afraid to get stuck into the detail, whilst understanding the considerations of cost, quality and schedule.This role involves a keen eye for detail, and may include the creation of technical drawings.This is an opportunity to grow your career within a progressive, dynamic environment with exposure to ground-breaking technologies and systems, including the world’s first Integrated Sonar System and the market-leading fully digital Hull Mounted Sonar, S2150. You will work with our team to ensure that our products have exceptional technical publications and manuals.Depending on the experience of the author, both author and senior author roles are available.**Key Responsibilities**Working under the mentorship of the head of Support or a Supportability Line Manager, you will be responsible for the creation, maintenance and support of technical publications within the organisation.No two days at Ultra are the same, but your responsibilities will include:* Develop and maintain technical documentation, including user manuals, maintenance guides, and service bulletins.* Translate complex engineering concepts into clear, concise language, using simplified technical English* Ensure all documentation complies with industry standards and regulatory requirements.* Collaborate with design and support teams to gather technical data and verify accuracy.* Manage document revisions and configuration control throughout the product lifecycle.* Support digital content creation, including interactive manuals and online help systems.There will be opportunities to support Mechanical Engineering, and within Configuration Management, as part of this role and as the demand occurs. We are keen for our technical authors to engage and develop skills across engineering as part of their role.**Skills, Qualification and Experience**A dynamic, professional, engineer or technician with experience within a high technology or regulated industry, you will have:* Experience as a Technical Author in an engineering or technical environment.* An understanding of engineering principles and technical terminology.* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.* Proficiency in documentation tools, noting these are “nice to have’s” rather then required - (e.g., Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare).* Proficient in MS Office* Knowledge of standards such as S1000D.* Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.The successful candidate will be expected to understand and take on responsibility for documentation created using S1000D within the organisation.This role will require UK Security Clearance.**Personal Attributes**In order to achieve your personal and professional goals, you will:* Display excellent interpersonal skills with a talent for rapidly building rapport with a broad range of internal and external customers from diverse backgrounds.* Work to resolve conflict wherever it arises, promoting harmony within the team.* Possess excellent communication skills and display the empathy and skill to adapt your communication style in response to others' needs.* Be capable of providing mentorship and guidance to less experienced co-workers.Benefits on offer:* Optional 9-day fortnight* TOIL* Flexible working hours* 1pm finish on a Friday* Annual bonus* Hybrid working for certain job roles.* Casual dress* 25 days holiday* Christmas shut down.* Option to buy or sell holiday.* Option to purchase private health care, dental, critical illness etc via salary sacrifice.* Reward hub - discounts at over 200 online stores* Pension starting at 5% Employer / 4% Employee.
