Kitchen Assistant

Location: Richmond Villages Letcombe Regis, South Street, Oxfordshire, OX12 9RG

Salary: £12.90 per hour – Paid breaks plus excellent benefits

Employment Type: Permanent, 28 hours per week

Shift Rota: Between 10am-8pm (10hr shifts) including alternative weekends; no late nights.

Responsibilities

• Preparing simple meals and ancillary items for service under the direction of the Chef.
• Washing dishes by hand or loading the dishwasher, storing clean items neatly and safely to minimise breakages.
• Sweeping and mopping kitchen floors to ensure they remain free from grease or spillage at all times.
• Washing work tables, walls, kitchen equipment and appliances, adhering to cleaning schedules.
• Operating kitchen equipment and transferring it safely between storage and work areas.
• Ensuring the kitchen is kept tidy and left secure, rubbish is removed, and all supplies are put away in the correct place.
• Adhering to company Food Safety and Health and Safety policies at all times, maintaining all records outlined in the HACCP policy.

Key Skills / Qualifications

You possess an understanding of Health and Safety, and knowledge of maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment. Ideally, you hold an up‑to‑date CIEH Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or equivalent) and have prior experience in a catering department or kitchen. Experience working in a care environment, managing stock, and preparing simple meals are beneficial. Being organised and adaptable, you are capable of working effectively within a team and independently.
