Wheldon Infant School has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Teaching Assistant. We are seeking a fun, dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to work within our challenging and rewarding environment.
You will be supporting pupils in Key Stage One who require additional support to reach their full potential. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring that all students, regardless of their individual needs, have access to high-quality education and support. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young learners. The successful candidate will be required to work as a Lunchtime Supervisory Assistant.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with classroom teachers to plan and deliver tailored interventions for students with special educational needs.
2. Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, focusing on their individual learning goals.
3. Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students with varying abilities and learning styles.
4. Monitor and track student progress, regularly reporting to teachers and SENCO.
5. Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and empowered.
6. Collaborate with the SENCO and other staff to develop and implement individual education plans and behaviour management strategies.
7. Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and carers, ensuring effective communication and engagement.
8. Assist with classroom organisation and administration, as needed.
9. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
10. Qualifications: • Minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience.
11. Previous experience working with students with special educational needs in an educational setting.
12. Knowledge of a range of special educational needs and interventions.
13. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
14. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children's educational and emotional development.
15. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
16. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
17. Desirable Qualifications: • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent. • First Aid/DBS certification. • Experience with assistive technology and augmentative communication systems. • Training in behaviour management and de-escalation techniques.
