Are you ready to take the next step in your emergency nursing career? This exciting one year Band 6 secondment offers the opportunity to develop your leadership, clinical and decision-making skills within a fast-paced, supportive Emergency Department at Weston General Hospital.

As a Band 6 Junior Sister, you’ll play a key role in co-ordinating patient care, supporting junior staff and promoting excellence in emergency nursing practice. You’ll work alongside a dynamic multidisciplinary team, gaining valuable experience in clinical leadership, patient flow management and quality improvement initiatives.

This is an excellent opportunity for motivated and enthusiastic nurses looking to build confidence and experience in a senior role, ideal preparation for future permanent Band 6 or leadership positions within the Trust.

If you’re passionate about emergency care, eager to grow and ready to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you!

In this Band 6 role, you will play a key part in leading and supporting the Emergency Department nursing team at Weston General Hospital. Acting as a clinical expert and positive role model, you will deliver and coordinate high-quality, evidence-based care for patients presenting with a wide range of conditions. You will be responsible for ensuring safe and effective assessment, treatment, and discharge planning, using your clinical judgement to make timely decisions and escalate appropriately. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will liaise closely with the multidisciplinary team, patients, and families to promote best practice and ensure a seamless patient journey through the department.

This is a hands-on leadership role that requires confidence, resilience, and the ability to work calmly under pressure in a fast-paced environment. You will need to demonstrate excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, as well as the ability to support, mentor, and motivate others. The role involves taking responsibility for daily coordination, staffing, and patient flow, as well as contributing to audits, safety initiatives, and continuous quality improvement.

This secondment offers a fantastic opportunity to enhance your leadership and advanced clinical skills, gain confidence in managing an emergency care environment, and prepare for future progression within senior nursing roles.
