Job Description
Working within our highly experienced First Line Risk Team and reporting to the Risk Lead, you will be a trusted business partner across an Operations portfolio, supporting business change activities as we implement a business‑wide tech transformation. In this role you will support both regulated and non‑regulated mortgage business activities by providing training, support, assistance and advice to empower effective risk management. You will oversee business areas to assess risk‑management maturity and, where applicable, identify targeted areas for further support such as operational, conduct and compliance risk types.
Responsibilities
- Support, train, challenge and oversee business:
- RCSAs
- Incidents
- Root cause analysis
- Maximise the utilisation and benefits of the Group ERMF toolkit to manage risk effectively, consistently and transparently.
- Provide risk insights and divisional risk profiles to HODs to support and challenge prioritisation on a risk basis.
- Provide consolidated reporting to the centralised 1st Line Risk Report submitted to Risk Committees.
- Support the wider business transformation programme in designing and developing effective risk controls.
- Triage and submit proposed business risk acceptances through governance as a first‑line challenge and advisory support.
- Review, define and execute business area KRIs, providing early indication of risk exposure for treatment.
- Provide control recommendations for specific areas of risk.
- Deliver regular feedback and reporting on the maturity and risk profile of business areas.
- Assist in the continual development of the 1st Line Risk operating model.
- Conduct periodic risk assessments to inform assurance planning.
- Design and deliver risk training across the business.
Qualifications
- Experience in a 1st line risk role.
- Passion for partnering, collaboration and building strong stakeholder relationships.
- Experience designing effective controls for regulated processes.
- Experience designing effective controls within a financial services business or similar regulated industry.
- Understanding of operational challenges and how to support them from a first‑line risk perspective.
- Experience working within a three lines of defence model.
- Knowledge of risk management and effective documentation and review of RCSAs, incidents, risk metrics, etc.
- Experience using risk management system solutions.
- Experience practicing risk against an established enterprise risk management framework.
- Experience in transformation programmes (preferred).
