Senior Technician ST ASAPH, UNITED KINGDOM Job Outline: To produce precision lens components and assemblies to within the defined limits of dimensional accuracy and within the planned times, sometimes under the guidance of a Senior Technician, and in accordance with all departmental and company procedures, across a range of machines and processes Key Responsibilities: Ensures component quality is acceptable and dimensions to ensure its suitability for further processing Select, inspect and prepare all required tooling to ensure the accurate production of components and assemblies Ensure all component preparatory work is carried out correctly to attain precision components efficiently and minimise expensive component losses Select relevant tooling and equipment to attain the most effective method of producing high quality precision components. Ensure that the required quality and operating standards are satisfied throughout each stage of manufacture to achieve optimum quality. Sets up relevant machinery to ensure efficient production of precision components Inspect the components being worked throughout the operation and decide on alterations required to achieve the finished component. Re-work of damaged components when possible is done in order to recoup potential losses Instruct other employees in the operation of machinery and processes and assists other personnel in the department Ensure that the equipment and work area is cleaned and maintained in accordance with the operator's maintenance schedule and the required departmental standards Support the business needs by participating in ongoing process/business improvement programmes Personal Specification: It is essential that all candidates have the following: Mechanical aptitude and an appreciation of mechanical principles Experience manufacturing optical components Conventional and CNC processing knowledge.
