Role
The Campaigns and Communications Officer role is a great opportunity to use your communications skills and knowledgeof policy in Scotland to help tackle the nature and climate emergency.
RSPB Scotland is Scotland’s largest nature conservation charity. The campaigns team works across the organisation andwith external coalitions and partners to build broad public support for our policy priorities. The successfulcandidate will work closely with parliamentary and communications colleagues.
Forthcoming policy priorities include legislation aimed at restoring biodiversity. The successful candidate willcoordinate internal and external stakeholders and support the development and implementation of activitydesigned to mobilise people for nature and climate.
This is a fixed-term role which would make an excellent secondment opportunity. We see the role as a developmentopportunity for those with some experience looking to develop their campaigning and advocacy skills.
What we need from you
* Education at degree level or equivalent, or the ability to demonstrate work-relatedexperience.
* Experience of working on nature conservation issues.
* Experience of working on apublic-facing communications campaign.
* Public engagement and event management skills
* Ability todevelop public messages from briefings or background information on a wide variety of topics.
* Experience of relationship-building with internal and externalnetworks.
* Ability to plan, prioritise and project manage.
* Monitoring and evaluation of campaignsand communication activities to determine reach and impact, including on social media.
* Good understanding of the policy and political landscapes in Scotland and the UK.
* Event management for virtual events, such as webinars.
* Previous experience in conservation issues of concern.

The role of ECCAN’s Members Support and Events Lead is dynamic and multifaceted, serving as an important bridgebetween the members and the organisation. Operating within Edinburgh's four localities, this person willfrequently travel and be the primary point of contact for the network’s members, offering project developmentsupport and enabling groups to take forward their ideas.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about community engagement to support thedevelopment of community climate action plans, climate resilience plans, or local place planning for groups,organisations, and neighbourhoods in Edinburgh.
You will be a hands-on, adaptable and approachable coordinator who can diligently curate and distribute resources,ensuring their relevance and accessibility for ECCAN’s membership while also designing and administeringfeedback mechanisms to sustain member participation.
This will include planning and delivering in ECCAN’s in person and virtual events of different scales throughout theyear and building capacity of member organisations to deliver compelling climate and social justice activitiesof their own.
This will involve conducting outreach talks and workshops for groups, managing and collaborating effectively withvolunteers, liaising with speakers and trainers, and delivering sessions on carbon literacy and other pertinenttopics across Edinburgh's localities.
Hours of Work: 28 hours a week flexible with some evening / weekend work (for which time off in lieu is provided).Potential for job share or compressed hours.

Location: You will be based in member premises in the heart of the city, working closely with other agencies andcolleagues across Edinburgh. Flexible hot desking is possible in various community locations as well as homeworking.
