Who are we?
Within the @one Alliance, we are a fully collaborative organization comprising eight partner companies (Anglian Water, Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska, and SWECO) and our extended supply chain. We deliver over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme.
As we prepare for our most ambitious Asset Management Period yet, known as AMP 8, we will undertake a larger programme of work than ever before. We are driving change, setting global benchmarks, and building a better environment, while providing growth and development opportunities for our workforce. We aim to build on our existing teams and foster an environment for career progression.
To enhance our ability to develop an optimal programme portfolio, we are seeking a talented Project Commercial Manager.
As we enter this exciting and challenging period for the water industry, maintaining industry-leading commercial and cost management processes is essential to not only deliver but outperform against our objectives and customer expectations.
What will you be doing as our new Project Commercial Manager?
You will be responsible for the commercial and cost management of a project or programme, from inception to close-out, reporting directly to an Integrated Projects Leader (IPL). Your role will focus on achieving maximum efficiencies and ensuring full compliance with all alliance and Anglian Water governance procedures. You will also provide commercial challenge to the IPL and team on all project matters.
Key responsibilities:
* Management of Commercials: Ensuring robust estimates aligned with scope, managing and supporting procurement strategies, and ensuring subcontracts reflect the agreed scope and are properly managed.
* Robust Cost Management: Providing accurate live forecasts, monitoring actual costs against estimates, and reporting variances with underlying reasons and resolutions.
* Contract Management: Proper administration of the alliance contract, timely issuance of early warnings, maintaining proper records, and ensuring accurate final accounts.
* Project and Programme Risk: Implementing mitigation plans, managing opportunities, monitoring efficiencies, and reporting variances to the IPL.
* Team Leadership: Leading and developing a small team, mentoring team members, and fostering collaboration.
Skills, experience, and behaviours:
Ideally, you will hold a degree and RICS/CIOB/CICES certification, with demonstrable experience managing complex projects up to multi-million-pound values. You should be robust, adaptable to change, and confident in challenging decisions. Experience with NEC contracts, negotiation, estimating, and stakeholder management is essential. You should act with integrity, champion collaboration, and lead with a strong commercial focus. Working under pressure with a positive, forward-thinking attitude, and supporting your team with empathy and relationship-building skills are also important.
If joining an industry-leading alliance appeals to you and you wish to establish a career in environmental project management, please apply today!
