Production Manager Role - Chemical Manufacturing
This Production Manager position is with a globally leading chemical manufacturer based in the Wigan area, specializing in the manufacture of bespoke resins. The role offers an annual salary of between £45,000 - £50,000 (dependent on experience), along with a benefits package including a company pension contribution, healthcare (BUPA), 33 days holiday including bank holidays, and working hours from 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.
The main purpose of the Production Manager is to ensure products are manufactured within health and safety guidelines, efficiently, and with quality output. This role provides an opportunity to work for a leading global producer of chemical products, a key manufacturing company relied upon by many industries. The Production Manager is critical to the ongoing operation of the facility.
Responsibilities of the Production Manager:
* Oversee the day-to-day running of the plant alongside the Operations Lead.
* Generate monthly reports on manufacturing performance for the senior leadership team, identifying bottlenecks or delays.
* Optimize performance by analyzing processes with support teams and suggesting improvements; manage supervisors' daily activities and support indirect reports.
* Provide guidance on related queries and ensure health and safety guidelines are followed.
* Promote a continuous improvement environment, review SOPs, and update procedures as needed.
* Ensure timely review of quality issues and implement corrective and preventative actions.
Candidate Requirements:
* Degree qualification in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.
* Experience managing direct reports.
* Familiarity with ISO9001, ISO14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
* Background in process manufacturing, preferably chemical manufacturing.
* Experience with 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
* NEBOSH or IOSH qualification.
