Adult and Child Pre and Post Bereavement Support Counsellor
This is a Fixed Term/Secondment vacancy for 1 year until 01/12/2026 due to secondment cover. Part-time vacancies available: 2 x 15 hour posts and 1 x 7.5 hour post.
Location: Ty Bryngwyn, Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli, SA14 8QF. Band 5, Agenda for Change. Salary £31,516 to £38,364 per annum pro rata.
Job Summary
The post holder will deliver high quality, cost‑effective pre and post bereavement counselling within community and hospital settings. Practice will be evidence‑based and aligned with legal requirements, statutory policies and Health Board guidelines. The role involves managing a defined caseload with minimal direct supervision, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating individual care, and contributing to the service philosophy for both adults and children in a hospital environment.
Main duties
* Maintain and develop high‑quality support and care for clients within the Hywel Dda University Health Board area, using evidence, best practice and clinical judgement.
* Manage a defined caseload, assess and coordinate an individualised therapeutic programme of care in partnership with clients, promoting health.
* Acknowledge and promote best practice, reporting unsafe practice where appropriate.
* Provide accurate information tailored to individual needs about the bereavement process.

Job Description & Qualifications

Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Registered with BACP
* Relevant Diploma in Counselling
* Current or working towards Accreditation
* Evidence of relevant grief practice
* Experience working in adult and child grief/bereavement counselling
* Receiving clinical supervision
Desirable
* Related counselling qualifications
* Broad spectrum of relevant counselling experience
* Welsh speaker (Level 1)
Other Requirements
