Advanced Occupational Therapist

We have an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with the special interest in clinical leadership in Stroke. This is a permanent position based at Stoke-On-Trent and East Cheshire. You will join a progressive, innovative multi-disciplinary stroke service with an excellent research and care delivery record.
The Clinical Lead Specialist Occupational therapist in Stroke will provide clinical and managerial leadership which inspires, motivates and empowers therapists in the delivery of excellent patient care and experience in Stroke care.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day operational service planning and delivery of stroke therapy input to the specialist stroke services based at Stoke-On-Trent and East Cheshire. You will be clinically accountable for the standards of the therapy input within the ICSRS to provide a safe, effective service.
Our community team is part of the Greater Manchester Neurorehabilitation & Integrated Stroke Delivery Network and have robust links with our hyper acute and acute stroke service in Royal Stoke University Hospital.
Main duties of the job
* Inspire and motivate others to deliver best practice and to continually improve standards in line with the evidence base and national guidelines.
* Provide clinical leadership and influence for planning and service delivery within clinical area of expertise.
* To demonstrate professional skills, standards and experience consistent with a specialist in the field and to ensure/oversee that services provided comply with professional and departmental standards of practice in collaboration with the clinical service leads /clinical academics and clinical leads.
* To maintain and develop a breadth of knowledge of highly specialist assessment and intervention skills, including knowledge of appropriate specialist aids and equipment relevant to area of practice and to manage a clinical caseload as compatible with management responsibilities.
* Promote and develop a learning environment within area of practice using a collaborative approach.
* To support the development and implementation of a training strategy for area of responsibility in collaboration with team leads/clinical academics, and clinical specialists.
* Support research awareness and activity within the team, in collaboration with the clinical academics and clinical leads in therapies.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree/Diploma in OT
* Registered with HCPC
* Proficient use of MS Office solutions & relevant EPR systems
* Evidence of successful completion of Leadership development training
* Leadership skills across a variety of settings
* Demonstrate critical appraisal skills
* Current driving licence and use of car for work
* Evidence of integrated working
* Ability to participate in an evaluate service delivery through research, audit and outcome measures
* Understanding of the national service model for an integrated community stroke service
Experience
* Extensive experience post qualification with evidenced experience at a senior level within stroke in the NHS
* Experience gained within an acute and community setting as qualified therapist
* Experience of supervising qualified therapy staff and students
* Clinical experience and competence in Stroke
* Evidence of supervisory experience
