Overview
Northern State University seeks an engaging, creative, collaborative, and dedicated teacher to serve as a fulltime, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music Theory/Sound Design. Duties to begin in August 2026.
Responsibilities
* Teach within the Master of Music Education curriculum and contribute to the new music/arts technology curriculum.
* Teach classes which may include piano, music theory, aural skills, applied composition, sound design or other related courses.
* Collaborate at the piano with faculty and/or students.
* Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and service activities.
* Address other duties assigned by the Music Department Chair or School of Music Dean.
Required Qualifications
* Doctorate degree in music theory or closely related field.
* Ability or potential to teach music theory, composition, and/or sound design.
* Prior experience with sound design.
