We’re looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the north of Newcastle. This role involves providing one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with additional needs, including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
What you’ll be doing:
* Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt lessons and activities
* Supporting a child with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) on a one-to-one basis
* Encouraging engagement, independence, and confidence in learning
* Helping pupils to regulate emotions and manage transitions calmly
* Creating a safe, supportive environment where every child feels valued
What we’re looking for:
* Experience working with children or young people with SEND (school-based or in another setting)
* A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach
* Confidence in managing behaviour positively and consistently
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to build trust with pupils and staff
* Flexibility and willingness to support across different areas of the curriculum
