A Snapshot of your day
As a HVDC Controls Engineer, you will work within a team of HVDC project management and engineering specialists to design and deliver full HVDC control and protection solutions for wind farm grid connections and interconnectors, utilizing a transient network analysis laboratory in Manchester.
You will report to the Engineering Manager – HVDC C&P and will be responsible for providing engineering work packages aligned with project and business objectives.

Your Responsibilities
1. Design open and closed loop control systems for HVDC.
2. Prepare design specifications, documentation, and effort estimations.
3. Clarify technical requirements with project teams, customers, and suppliers.
4. Implement control software in MATLAB/SIMULINK and verify using simulation tools and real-time test environments.
5. Support commissioning team remotely during the commissioning phase.
6. Support service team remotely during the warranty phase.
Your Skills and Qualifications
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
2. Long-term professional experience in energy and control technology.
3. Good knowledge of converter and high voltage technology, as well as open and closed loop controls.
4. Proficiency in MATLAB/SIMULINK, including model-based implementation and verification.
5. Experience with automation systems, preferably SIMATIC TDC / S7.
6. Excellent English skills; German is an advantage.
