Job summary
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, including weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis. One late night shift per week.
Pay: Year 1 - 70% of a Band 4; Year 2 - 75% of a Band 4
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team on a 2-year training contract. We seek versatile individuals who can adapt and perform well under pressure. The successful candidate will need to prioritize their workload and work flexibly within the team. All staff are required to work weekends and bank holidays on a rostered basis, currently one bank holiday per year and one weekend (Saturday & Sunday) every 8 weeks. Candidates must be able to accommodate this schedule.
Main duties of the job
Within the workplace, you will rotate through areas of the Pharmacy department, working alongside our friendly and experienced team. You will gain practical experience in dispensary, distribution & ordering, and medicines management on the wards. You will also learn about specialised areas such as Aseptic services.
Person care is central to our approach. As a Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (PTPT), you will play a vital role in medication adherence, optimisation, and providing healthy lifestyle advice.
You will study towards becoming a registered Pharmacy Technician, a level 3 qualification fully funded during the 2-year training period. The course combines on-the-job training with 20% off-the-job learning. Additional study outside working hours is expected. The course includes assessments, coursework, case studies, culminating in a final portfolio.

Job responsibilities
After suitable training, the post holder will:
* Dispense prescriptions for inpatients and outpatients following procedures
* Dispense Controlled Drugs per protocols
* Dispense prescriptions for external pharmacy customers
* Cover for the Assistant Technical Officers' (ATO) leave and sickness
* Provide medicines reconciliation for inpatients
* Perform final accuracy checks on dispensed medications
