Job summary
Applications are invited for a 12 month fixed-term full time (10PA) Consultant in Haematology post, to join a team of nine consultant haematologists in Bath. You will be working in a haematology department which is committed to providing high quality care and is at the forefront of innovative practice in the region. The role will provide opportunities for the successful candidate to contribute to a rapidly evolving department which delivers high intensity chemotherapy and autologous haematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
We encourage a specialist interest and will endeavour to accommodate this. The department is an active recruiter to an expanding trial portfolio. The department also has strong research links with major academic centres in the region, including the Universities of Bath, Bristol and West of England. The successful candidates would be encouraged to open additional clinical trials and develop their own research interests.
You would be expected to become an accredited educational supervisor. You must be registered medical practitioner and on, or eligible to join the Specialist register for Haematology within six months of the date of the advisory appointments committee.
Responsibilities
In this role you will develop a specialist interest to complement the roles of the existing consultant team, but the department will endeavour to support any specialist interest a candidate may have. Suitably qualified candidates may be eligible for an honorary academic appointment with the University of Bristol Medical School, to develop a research or specialist interest further. FRCPath or equivalent and M/FRCP are essential qualifications for this post. Any applicant looking to work less than full time would be very welcome to apply for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the employing body in consultation with consultant colleagues.
