Job Summary
We are a small electronic manufacturing company seeking an Operation's Supervisor to lead and support our Technical and Support Teams on the shop floor, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and the achievement of high-level quality and production targets. The successful candidate will provide hands-on leadership, actively engaging with teams to maintain high productivity, uphold quality standards, and resolve operational challenges in real time. This role is vital for driving team performance, coaching staff to develop skills, and ensuring processes are followed efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities
* Daily planning and allocation of production jobs and support team tasks, including splitting tasks to ensure best utilisation
* Working with the teams and PCM to identify and resolve problems preventing best performance and on-time deliver
* Deliver company inductions to new starters
* Communicate expectations, priorities and deadlines across both teams
* Liaising with PCM with regard to deliveries, priorities and overdue orders issues
* Monitor production reporting systems for work allocation, priorities, failures and errors (scrap and rework), training and provision of adequate cover and input into Management Team reviews
* Manage daily production records and reports, including tracking work orders, production progress, and any downtime or shortages. Monitor ongoing work-in-progress, and quickly resolve any issues that arise to keep operations running smoothly. Reporting inaccurate data issues in the system to PCM
* Provide figures and personnel information to the PCM for employee personal reviews
* Working closely with PCM to assess and establish critical skill requirements, identify skill gaps and plan required training and upskilling
* Reporting staff performance and absence issues to Production Control Manager
* Manage tool and equipment problem solving, including communication with equipment manufacturer support desks
* Supervise equipment, tooling, jig and fixture control, maintenance and servicing, including internal/external daily, weekly and annual service intervals and H&S checks
* To support the delivery of high-quality outcomes by overseeing the inspection team, driving best practice, and ensuring compliance with procedures, while ultimate accountability for quality remains with the Quality Manager
* Investment proposal research, including needs analysis, fit-for-purpose equipment identification, payback calculation and commissioning
* Continuously seeking opportunities to optimise processes, streamline workflows, implement best practices, and drive operational excellence
* Input into the company Strategic Business Plan to support continuous improvement projects
* Drive and supervision Lean Manufacturing & 5S ideas, methods and standards
Key Attributes
* Proven Team Supervisor experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably within a skilled technician environment
* Strong understanding of manufacturing processes & methods
* Engineering background would be advantageous
* Continuous improvement mind-set, with good organisational & time management skills
* Decisive, results-driven approach with strong decision-making abilities
* Effective planning, problem solving & strategic thinking
* Excellent verbal & written communication skills
* IT literate and data reporting; capable of producing clear KPI reports, charts, and graphs to monitor team performance
* IT and Network problem solving beneficial but not essential
* Lead and motivate team members while maintaining professional boundaries
Salary & Benefits
* Starting salary £30,000.00-£33,000.00 DOE-Paid through an agency for probationary period
* After a successful probationary period and joining Electroparts permanently the salary will be paid monthly in arrears. There will be key deliverables set to achieve over a 12-24 months schedule with landing salary £36,450.00
* Holiday: 28 days pa, which includes all bank holiday and Christmas shutdown
* Attendance bonus of up to 1 extra week can be accrued for the following year, if zero absences are posted, calculated on a quarterly basis
Hours:
* 38 hours per week. Nominal working hours 08.30 to 16.26 Monday to Friday. 20 minutes break each day 12.00 to 12.20
* Extra hours may be required in order to fulfil the responsibilities under the job description, and the salary includes provision for reasonable additional hours
